Four more Finnish skiers with positive doping tests Mittwoch, 28. Februar 2001 / 15:19 Uhr
Helsinki - Four more Finnish cross country skiers have tested positive for taking banned substances at the nordic ski world championships in Lahti.
The report said results from doping samples taken by the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA concluded that men's skiers Mika Myllyla and Harri Kirvesnemi and women athletes Milla Bauho and Virpi Kuitunen were the doping offenders.
The domestic ski federation refused to comment on the report but said a press conference would be held at 5 p.m. local time.
The Finnish nordic skiing world has been rocked after Janne Immonen und Jari Isometsa both test positive for the banned plasma volume expander HES at the world championships, which ended Sunday.
Both athletes were suspended, stripped of their medals - Immonen as part of the gold-winning relay team, Isometsa of his pursuit silver - and face two-year bans. (la/dpa)
